Our Favorite Dog Spa Day Ideas

Not sure what a dog spa day would look like? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Dog Pedicure. Take nail trims to the next level and give your pup a full-service pawdicure. Cleanse away the toxins found on the ground, moisturize cracked pads with a soothing balm, and top it off with a fly shade of dog-safe nail polish
  • Deep Conditioning. Give some extra love to your pup’s fur with a leave-in or wash-away conditioner. Not only will it maintain your dog’s shine and silk past their grooming, but it will leave their fur healthy and nourished.
  • Aroma Therapy. Bathe or spritz your dog with calming scents that will leave them in a tranquil state. An added perk? They’ll smell even better when you snuggle them afterward.
  • Ear Cleaning. Since ear cleaning is often overlooked during regular bath time, make it a part of your overall dog spa day. Then end with a head massage and yummy treat.

The Best Dog Spa Day and Pedicure Products

With an ever-growing list of dog spa and pedicure products available, we enlisted the help of our tester Olive the Boston Terrier (and her pet parent Amber) to see what really works. The bottom line? Pretty pawsitive! Here were some of their favorites.

Warren London Deep Cleaning Paw Fizz Tablets

Since Olive had been licking her paws more than normal, Amber wanted to give these Warren London fizz tablets a try. Made with natural tea tree oil and seaweed extract, these tablets promise to remove dirt and irritants while soothing and moisturizing paw pads.

The results? While Amber wasn’t sure if they ultimately helped with the paw licking, one thing was certain—Olive sure enjoyed soaking her pads in the warm fizzy water, making these a repeat item for bath time.

Warren London PINK Pawdicure Polish Pen

Perfect for dog pedicures, this water-based dog nail polish dries in under 40 seconds, so it’s less messy and easier to apply than some of the other dog nail polishes out there.

Amber found the pen was comfortable to hold and the nib at the end acted like a Sharpie for better precision. The polish also dried quickly, and Olive was walking around smudge-free after a minute. Minus a few chipped ends, the polish also held up for over five days, making it a fun temporary option for people who want to give their dog a little pop of color.

One quick note—tempting though it might be to match your pup, don’t use your own nail polish on your dog, and not just because it’s likely to make an unholy mess. Human nail polishes could be toxic if licked, even when dry. So stick to dog-safe polish options.

Warren London Hydrating Butter for dogs

This leave-in conditioner is great for keeping your pup smelling fresh between baths, grooms, and shampoos. Just massage in the lotion and voila, you’re done!

Amber loved the guava and mangosteen scent. Using it on Olive a few days after her bath, she noticed the product gave her coat a nice shine.

Exfoliating butter wash in pomegranate and fig scent

No spa dog day is complete without a bubble bath. And this sweet-smelling butter wash left Olive’s coat nice and shiny. Amber even noticed that the exfoliation helped keep Olive’s coat free of the dandruff that she usually sees on her.

Warren London Instant Ear Cleaner - Dog Ear Drops with Aloe

Made with aloe, this ear cleaner has a nice crisp scent, making it a good staple to have on hand if your dog is prone to ear issues. An added relief? Olive wasn’t bothered by the product, staying cool as a cucumber during the application.

Wet Kiss Papaya & Guava Dog Cologne

If your pup is smelling a little on the stinky side, add a cologne or spray to your dog’s pedicure and spa day. While this dog cologne was pretty strong after the initial application, the fragrance became less noticeable after a few hours. Amber also reported that once 24 hours had passed, she could still smell a nice light scent on Oliver’s fur when she sniffed her up close (as all good pet parents are known to do).

Up your dog’s pedicure game with this paw defense wax. Not only did Olive enjoy her paw massage, but the wax was nice and smooth, leaving her paws a lot less dry after using it.

Warren London Dog Nail File

This nail file is pretty standard, making it simple to use. Amber found it useful for filing Olive’s nails after she clipped them, especially since she doesn’t use a Dremel—filing them down made them nice and smooth.
