When you hear Stem Cell research, Bioengineering, or Translational medicine, you might think that this has nothing to do with you, or something too futuristic or foreign. You might think diseases in animals have no connection to your health right now. That barrier will be taken away as we learn our intestinal health impacts our overall health. Yoko M Ambrosini is currently an Assistant Researcher at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a veterinarian scientist from Nihon University, Japan, who received her Masters and Ph.D at the University of California in Davis where she studied animal models for human autoimmune hepatobiliary diseases. Following her Ph.D, she transitioned to clinical work and she successfully completed Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Tufts University with induction to Veterinary Honor Society in 2018. Her current research focus is on the development of translatable non-rodent canine intestinal models to investigate both veterinary and human chronic diseases. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
