RECALL: Another Kibble Brand Affected By Potential Salmonella Contamination

Health

On October 21st, 2023, Texas Farm Products Company (TFP Nutrition) voluntarily recalled certain products due to potential Salmonella contamination. Since food testing positive for Salmonella could harm both dogs and humans, companies need to proceed with caution in situations like this. Luckily, the product was pulled before any dog or human illnesses were reported.

Even though there are no customer complaints related to this recall, there have been some pet parents complaining about mold or digestive issues in reviews of this dog food within the last few months.

Dangers of Salmonella for Dogs and Humans

Salmonella can affect both humans and dogs, so even if your dog doesn’t have symptoms, they could pass the bacteria on to other members of your household.

Dogs with Salmonella could experience diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or a decreased appetite. Humans could face nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, or fever. In extreme cases for people, it could lead to arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, or eye irritation.

Even though Salmonella symptoms typically go away on their own, it’s best to talk to your vet if your dog is showing unusual behaviors. Dogs can’t tell us when they’re not feeling well, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
